Configuring your Assets and Layouts pages

Admins can easily configure the Assets and Layouts widget with a few clicks based on their needs.

In this article:

Assets widget

We've already seen how to change the view of your Assets widget by using the Entry Points and how to change the language of both widgets. Now it is time to configure a few options for the Assets view.

When you're on one of the asset pages and click on "Editor mode," you have the option on the top left to configure them.

  • Show categories as sidebar: This option will show the category list on the left side of your assets. When you choose this option, the left assets column will disappear to leave space for the category list.
  • Hide empty categories: All the empty categories will be hidden from the category list to provide you with a clear view.
  • Restrict adding tags (use predefined tags only): When it is checked, no new tags can be added during the upload process or edit view. Users can only search for and select existing tags.
  • Restrict adding tags from asset metadata: The keywords listed in the asset's metadata will not be imported when uploading new assets.
  • Enable Autotagging: The AI tagging option will be available while editing the assets.
  • Show category breadcrumb: The breadcrumb of the category structure will be visible below the search bar.
  • Hide search bar: The search bar will no longer be visible. The asset grid will move upward to fill the empty space.
  • Hide tabs: The tabs “browse assets”, “Collections” and “Download queue” will be hidden. Browse assets is the selected view, and it cannot be changed. Also, the asset grid will move up to fill the empty space.
  • Hide category dropdown: The category dropdown option will not be visible next to the search bar.
  • Crop thumbnails: The thumbnails will be cropped and will appear to have the same (square) size.

  • Related assets view mode: There are three options to show the view of the related assets based on your needs: carousel, masonry grid, and list. Carousel is the default option and one of the options needs to be chosen if you're using the "related assets" metadata
  • Default sorting option: These options are taken from the metadata attributes that you have. Based on the option, assets will be shown in that order.
  • Default sorting order: You have the option to choose between ascending and descending.

Layouts widget

To organize your Layouts widget, you can create separate pages for each template. You can customize each page by adding a title, description, and image from the "configure layout page" section where you select the template. You can also link pages or URLs to the image to make it more informative.

For example, after adding those details and choosing the template that you want to show, the following page can be created:

  • Template IDs: You can add the template IDs that you want to show on the page.
  • Show templates carousel: When it is checked, it will show all the selected templates as a carousel.
  • Show editor column: The editor dropdown is shown on the list to see who is the editor of the templates.
  • Show search bar: You can enable the search bar to find the documents easily
  • Show documents from: You have the option to show the documents from the "Owner and editor" or "All users".
