Update assets

If you have a Pro license, you can update the metadata of assets in bulk via the 'Update assets' page.

To get started, you need to select the assets you want to update. You can select assets by selecting a category, who uploaded assets, tags,... After selecting the assets you want to update, you can download the metadata of these assets in a CSV file which will include all the metadata fields that you have configured for your platform. You can update or fill in these fields with the relevant data you require, leaving the empty fields as they are.

Once you have updated the file, you can save is as csv and upload it in the next step.

When the file is uploaded, you can start the update. In this step, you can choose to enable the creation of tags from IPTC/XMF data. If there are any keywords added to the files' IPTC/XMP data, they will be added to the keywords in Kadanza. Use this feature with care, as it can create keywords that you did not expect to appear. Or put differently: if you only want to add the keywords you listed in the update file, make sure this option is unchecked.

Once the update is started, you can monitor its progress in the update logs at the bottom of the page.

Related assets (Bèta feature - under review)

If you use related assets, the asset ID's of each related asset will be listed in a separate column. That way, you can see which asset(s) are related to each individual asset in your metadata CSV.

We have released this as a Bèta feature, so make sure to keep the following in mind:

  • You can add asset ID's as related assets.
  • Related assets work bi-directionally.
    • This means that if you make asset A related to asset B, asset B will also be related to asset A
    • If Asset B is not listed in the update CSV, the bi-directional relationship will remain. Once the update is completed, asset B will be related to asset A
    • If asset B is listed in the update CSV, make sure to add the asset ID of asset A in the record of asset B. If you don't, the changes will be reverted when asset B is processed.
    • Do not list the asset's ID in its own record. Or said differently: do not try to relate an asset to itself. If you do, the update process will be stuck in a loop.
  • If you want to update these related assets via this CSV, please keep a copy of the original csv so you can roll back any changes you made if needed.
