Pages

Pages are placed in the pagetree and contain content. There are different types of content pages, each for specific content. Blank pages can contain different content elements, while Layouts, GraFx and Assets pages are preconfigured page types for the extensions. The Brand templates contain branding information that can help you define your corporate guidelines.

Admins can manage pages and content in the editor. This is an admin-only feature.

Editor

Kadanza offers a powerful WYSIWYG editor. When navigating to any page outside of the admin console, admins can open the editor. Click the pencil icon in the lower right corner of the page to open the editor and add or change content.

You can change or add any content directly on the page. To save a draft version, click "Save" and close the editor. The previous content will be visible for regular users, the updated content is visible when admins open the editor. If you click "Save & Publish", your updated content will be saved and will become visible to users outside the editor.

There are two menus in the editor, each with specific functionalities.

Top menu

From left to right:

  • Export page as JSON: Exporting the page design and content as a JSON file that can be uploaded onto another page.
  • Import page as JSON: Importing the page design and content from a downloaded JSON file
  • Undo: Erases the last change made to the page.
  • Redo: Reverses the undo or advances the buffer to a more recent state.
  • Close: Leave the editor mode without saving your changes. If changes are made, a warning modal will be shown before the page is closed.
  • Save: Saves the page as a draft. Changes are only visible in the editor.
  • Save & Publish: Saves and publishes the changes made. Changes will be visible outside the editor.

The JSON export/import feature allows admins to reuse pages in other spaces. By downloading the page and its content, it can easily be reused in another space. The content and structure will remain unchanged, but the space styling will be applied if the page is uploaded elsewhere.

Editor menu

From top to bottom:

  • Add content: Click to select one of our content elements. The icon becomes active when the cursor is placed on a new (blank) line in the page.
  • Add & manage pages: Open the pagetree and
    • Add new pages,
    • Reorder pages (via drag & drop)
    • Edit page content,

    • Duplicate, delete or disable pages
  • Configure content elements: This allows you to customize every type of component that you can add to pages.

Adding and editing pages

When a page is selected in the pagetree, the page content is loaded. Admins can add or edit content on the selected page. When you click on another page, a warning modal will notify you if you have made changes that aren't saved or published yet.

With the "Add page" button, you can add new pages or folders to the pagetree. While pages can contain content, folders are used to create navigation levels. A page can not contain sub pages, so if different levels are needed, folders should be used.

Kadanza offers different page types, each for a specific purpose

Managing pages

Pages are listed in spaces, and components are placed on pages. You can add components to a page in the page editor and use the component editor to style the components so they match your brand. Easily adjust fonts, colors, spacings, etc. for each component to match your brand. These settings apply to every instance of a component used in the a space, and each space can have different component settings.

When a page is selected, and you place the cursor on a blank (new) line, you can add content by either typing text, or by choosing one of the available components with the "Add content" icon.

You'll notice that the "Add content" icon is replaced by a configuration icon on both Assets and Layouts pages. On these page types, you can not add any content, but you can change the configuration of the widget placed on the page. In this configuration,

In the "Configure Assets modal", you can change the configuration of the Assets page. Configuration options include entry points, interface language and several specific options for how the widget looks. More information on the Assets page configuration can be found here.

The "Configure Layouts page" modal lists all options for the Layouts widget used on the page. Configuration options include which templates are linked, interface language, and some specific workflow options for the templates listed on the page. More information on the Layouts page configuration can be found here.

Page settings

Page settings change the settings of a specific page. Click the context menu next to a page name, and select "Page settings" to open the settings modal. There are three sub sections in the settings modal:

  • General
  • Access
  • Visibility

General

  • Title: The title of the page, how it is shown in the pagetree
  • Navigation name: The name of the page that will appear in the navigation.

Note: page titles can differ from their navigation name. As page titles are used in links, it can help to add some more details in the page title. For example: you have 6 spaces, and each space contains an overview landing page with the asset categories. If every page is called "Overview", you need to pay extra attention when linking to this overview page. If you add the space name in the navigation name (eg: space1-Overview), finding the correct page will be a lot easier.

Access

Access settings can be used to define who can access the page. By default, a page inherits the permissions of the parent folder or the space (if your page is in the first level in the pagetree). By adding one or more usergroups to the settings, only users from these groups can access the page.

The options are:

  • Use user groups from a parent: This setting lets you inherit the access rights from its parent.
  • Select specific user groups: Select the user groups that you want to grant access. Users that are member of these groups will see the page in the navigation. You can use "X" to deselect a user group.

Visibility

  • Enable page: Admins can enable and disable pages. Disabled pages and content are not visible in the page tree and cannot be accessed by users, even when they are using a bookmarked link.
  • Hide page from navigation menu: with this option checked, the page will not be listed in the navigation menu. Users can only access the page by using a link to the page.
