How to search in Kadanza Assets

We know that finding the right assets might be a daunting task. While the search results highly depend on the quality of the metadata added to each asset, there are some tips and tricks that could help when you are searching for assets.

Using the search bar

You can use the search bar to find assets in many different ways.

Start typing

As you begin typing a word in the search bar, the platform will suggest keywords and categories. It will also tell you how many assets are found from which any of the metadata fields include your search term. For example, if you search for "art", the following results will be displayed.

To find specific assets, you can click on one of the tags. All assets with that tag will be displayed. Alternatively, you can view all assets in the "Arts & Crafts" category.

If you type in "art" and hit enter, you will receive a large number of results (81 in the example) as it will show everything related to the word "art". While this can be convenient when you are searching for a specific item, it is best to narrow down your search, by choosing a specific tag or category.

Most metadata fields are indexed bia ngram, which means that it can be used for partial matches. Words will be split in 2 till max 35 characters. For example: "quick" is indexed as qu, qui, quic, quick, ui, uic, uick, ... The most relevant results will be presented at the top of your assets list

Search query

You might have noticed that when you selected a tag, a search query is visible in the search bar. Users can visually create search queries via the advanced search (see below), after which you can edit the query manually... Kinda similar as you can do in Google search.

If you happen to know the asset ID you're looking for, simply type in "id: 647" and the corresponding asset will be displayed as shown below.

You can use the same process to search for other metadata fields such as stock numbers, creator, and price.

Advanced search

If you want to improve your asset searches, simply click on the 'Advanced' option located in the search bar. This feature enables you to customize your search by utilizing criteria and metadata.

You have the option to fill in one section or combine the options to narrow down your search. Keep in mind that if you combine too many parameters, chances that you have a match will become smaller.

If you selected the attributes you want and you click search, you will see a more complex query in the search bar.

You can change any of the parameters in the query manually to update your search. Or you can reopen the advanced search and select other parameters.

It is important to note that having accurate metadata and tags can speed up your asset search. That's why we recommend adding as much information as possible based on your organization's configurations.
