Uploading assets

If you have upload permissions, you will see an "Upload file(s)" button above the asset overview. Uploading assets is a process of three steps.

1. Upload

Click "Upload file(s)" and add assets. There are two options to upload your selected assets:

  • Drag files from your computer and drop them in the upload zone.
  • Use the "Browse" button and select files on your computer

You can upload up to 100 files in one go, but keep in mind that the files uploaded can only be placed in the same category (or categories). If you want to add a batch of files to different categories, the files need to be uploaded in individual batches.

Once the files are added, they will need some time to upload to our servers. Every asset has a progress bar to indicate its upload progress. If you want to remove an asset from the list before continuing, you can click the "x" icon on the top right of the asset.

When all the assets are uploaded, you can continue to step 2.

We recommend uploading the highest resolution available. These files can be converted to lower resolutions or different filetypes using our Export profiles.

We only recommend uploading all different filetypes and versions for logo files, as the automated conversion could cause some color discrepancies.

2. Categorize

In this step, you will decide which categories your asset belongs to. It's really important to note that every asset has to be part of at least one category, as the visibility of assets is based on the categories they are placed in. If you don't select at least one category in step 1, you will not be able to continue to the next step.

Select the categories by using the "Add Categories" button. Your selection is listed below and will be applied to all the assets in your current upload process. When the upload is done, you can edit assets and add/remove categories if needed.

When selecting categories, you should only select a sub-category and not the parent category of the selected sub-category. This will improve the search and filter functionalities in Kadanza.

Want to delete a category before continuing? Just click the "X" icon next to the category name and continue to the next step.

3. Add metadata

In the third and final step, you can add metadata to your assets. This can be done for each file individually or for all uploaded files. Overall, metadata contains extra information about your assets and helps users to find the assets. Try to enter as much relevant information as you can. The better you describe the asset, the easier it is for other users to find it using our search function.

In addition to this, you can upload a custom thumbnail for your asset. While images and most Office files will have a preview, some files (like ZIP) will just have an icon. Adding a custom thumbnail will help users to visually identify the asset. You can also set some file properties, like vector and transparent for the files that you uploaded.

After adding the required metadata, you can click "Finalize" and the assets will be added to the selected categories, after which they can be used by other users.
